Elaine
Ambrose Romano is
the author of more than 100 magazine articles and four books. She
was the editor of the McCall Magazine and the associate editor of
the Boise Magazine. She currently writes a humor column for Intermountain
Golf Magazine. Elaine has won several writing awards from the Idaho
Press Club. She was Idaho’s first female television news reporter
and talk show hostess.
As the manager
of corporate contributions for Boise Cascade Corporation, Elaine
created and implemented a nationwide literacy program called “Ready
to Read.” Her program brought books to elementary schools throughout
the country and also provided newsprint for a nationwide children’s
newspaper. For her literacy efforts, Elaine was chosen for the “Celebrate
Literacy Award” from the Horizon Reading Council and was named a
“Distinguished Citizen” by the Idaho Statesman, the state’s largest
newspaper.
As the assistant
director of school services for the University of Utah, Elaine
wrote a promotional program that won first place in a national competition
sponsored by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education
(CASE). A popular keynote speaker, Elaine’s most requested speech
is titled “Live Happy or Die Crabby.” She speaks at conferences
throughout the Northwest and was the 2000 Commencement Speaker for
the University of Idaho. She was the national president of the University
Alumni Association, and she is currently on the University Foundation
Board and the Lionel Hampton Center Advisory Board.
An avid traveler,
Elaine has visited thirty countries around the world. She and her
husband own Mill Park Publishing in McCall, Idaho. They have three
grown children.
Elaine is a
member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators,
the Idaho Press Club, the Log Cabin Literary Center and the National

Mill Park Publishing author Elaine A. Romano was the featured
speaker at the Executive Women’s Golf Association annual meeting
in Boise, Idaho and the featured speaker at the Executive Women’s
Golf Association annual meeting in Seattle, Washington last March.
She was the keynote speaker at the annual meeting of the Women’s
Connection in Twin Falls, Idaho, in June. Elaine was also a featured
speaker at the Payette Lakes Writers Conference in McCall in September.
